The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians

The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter

 of

                  St. Paul to the Corinthians

¹ For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 1)

Oh God my beloved Father, what is of the earth has a beginning and an end, however what is of You has a beginning but no end for You are eternal Amen.

² For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling-³ if indeed, when we have taken it off-we will not be found naked.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verses 2 to 3)

Oh God my beloved Father, this world can offer us the pleasure of the moment but not eternal pleasure, for this can only be found in You. This body in which our soul dwells challenges us with its carnal desires and thoughts, such challenges, that without Your help we can never overcome them. Therefore I pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit in order to make holy that which is still not Amen.

⁴ For while we are still in this tent, we groan under our burden, because we wish not to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 4)

Oh God my Father, who will free me from this material body of sin, that compels me to do what I do not want to do, and which is in constant war with my soul. Only You are able to free me from the shekels and iron balls of the world that I have attached to my ankles and which I am dragging along every day of my life Amen. The key is in Your hands my God and Father, "May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven". Amen.

⁵ He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 5)

I thank You, my God and Father, for giving me this guarantee of the Holy Spirit. I thank You for preparing me in advance for all the situations that I have been experiencing and even more to come in the very near future Amen.

⁶ So we are always confident, even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord-⁷for we walk by faith and not by sight

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 6 to 7)

Oh brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, the more confident and secure we feel in this material world, may reflect that we are to evaluate our lives from a spiritual perspective in order to see if we are still living according to the will of God and not according to the material spirit of the world Amen.

⁸ Yes we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 8)

Oh God my beloved Father, with full confidence I also declare that I prefer to be with You united in Spirit than in the flesh and on earth. My joy and satisfaction is only in You and in what is Yours Amen. This is one of the reasons why I like my work because above all it is a service to You among people whom I can serve and in the same way I am serving You Amen.

⁹ So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 9)

Oh God my beloved Father, this is also my aim, whether I am on home grounds surrounded by Christians, or among people, who are not of our faith, I will not stop proclaiming Your Name and giving testimony to it.

¹⁰ For all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body whether good or evil.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 10)

Oh God my Father at times we may be misled to think that life starts and ends on earth, without considering that our souls remain alive after the point of death. Some of us including myself may not at times be responsible to be accountable to You in what we do and say Amen. I pray that we be more responsible and accountable throughout our daily live interactions Amen.

¹¹ Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade others; but we ourselves are well known to God, and I that we are also well known to your consciences.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 11)

Oh God, my Father in the popular world I am not that popular apart from when I go to the hospital with a client. However, I feel that I am familiar with You in my conscience for You know my positive areas and traits and even the not so positive traits Amen. Thanks Jesus.

¹² We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast in outward appearance and not in the heart.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 12)

Oh God, my Father lately I am being judged by many people for both the past and the present, however, I leave the final judgment to You, for You know me as a whole and not in parts, therefore Your judgment is totally objective Amen.

¹³ For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 13)

Oh God my Father there are issues related to You and our spiritual self, and there are issues related to our psychological well-being which are attributed to the world, however when I am not spiritually well, my state of mind also suffers because I believe that You have absolute control over both mind and body and that I live for You in both realms, therefore I do not consider them as separate but as one complementing the other Amen.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. ¹⁵And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verses 14 to 15)

Oh God my Father You know that I do not live for myself but for You, for if it was according to my will I would not live at all, for to be with You is far better than to live Amen.

¹⁶ From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view, even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 16)

Oh God my Father it is best to regard all as a soul that needs Your salvation. This is our main quest in life that of saving souls from the clutches of the evil one. Amen.

¹⁷ So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; everything old has passed away; see everything has become new!

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verse 17)

Oh God my Father You make all things new. I pray that You update my way of thinking and behaving so that I may be more like You. Oh God You make all things new Amen.

¹⁸ All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; ¹⁹ that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verses 18 to 19)

Oh God my Father my hope is in You. I thank You for paying the price of my redemption once and for all. I thank You for making me part of this ministry of proclaiming Your Word to others Amen.

²⁰ So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. ²¹ For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

(The Fifth Chapter of the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians verses 20 to 21)

Oh God my Father, in Your name I take on myself this role of an Ambassador. I will defend and proclaim Your name in the many environments that You send me and make known Your righteousness to humanity Amen. Thanks Jesus.

Oh God my Father I would like to end this meditation on the fifth chapter of the "Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians" with the following prayer:-

Oh God my Father as human beings we aim to satisfy our human needs, over our spiritual needs which are often neglected. However my true meaning is only in You my God and Father and not in the world Amen.
